Boys, boys, boys.

On Sunday my boys went up to our local park for a quick game of rugby and like most kids I think they have magnets attached to them because it wasn't long before our little group grew. I couldn't help taking a photo of a few of the boys around and one of their dogs Ernie, they all looked so cute together discussing rules and strategies. There are times when I miss the freedom of living out of town but I seriously love that there are some really lovely kids living nearby and that they have such a safe place play so close to our home(two doors down) and as spring approaches they will be able to spend more and more time up there.

Sometimes

Our favourite photos aren't always the best ones we take, they are the ones that evoke the most emtions in ourselves, like this shot of Seamus I found curled up in our bed. Even at eight he still isn't too old to sneak into our room and snuggle up on a winters night with his teddies.

The optimist

Reads-Frazer Gherig "I lost my last game of my footy career by 5 points"
While Kane Pettifer did kick his share of goals today the hope that the Saints might loose
by 5 points just did not happen. Number three son, 11 year old Joseph is right into caricatures at the moment. I think his drawing of Frazer Gherig (did I spell that right) is pretty good, love the tear rolling down his cheek .

And today is...

September the first, happy spring everyone.

My not so sharp shots of the lunar eclipse

I was having tripod issues, the tilt part of the head would for some reason not hold steady so most of the time I ended up supporting the camera myself, may as well shot hand held for all the good it did, so the end results are a little blurry.

It's coming..................

You can feel it in the air, smell it and definitely see signs of it everywhere, spring that is. As much as I love winter, the whole warm cuppas in front of the fire and the snuggling up with loved ones thing that suits me nicely, I am ready for a change of season. Spring, the season of outdoors, lengthening days and flowers, lots of lovely flowers. I am most assuredly a four seasons girl.

Pretty

The other morning we had a gorgeous mist covering everything with a fine layer of moisture, I missed the best of it with the camera as I hadn't taken it walking with me but I raced back later in the morning to get the remains of the dew drops on the spider webs. Not as beautiful as they had been an hour earlier and the light source had moved but still pretty enough. Next dewy morning I must remember to take it with me.

Gooey
The colour your tongue turns when you eat burnt marshmellows
Hot, hot, hot.

Woodchopping isn't just for winter warmth, it's a fun family activity as well. We took along a footy, plenty of treats and a big bag of marshmellows for the fire. While the adults cut and stacked the wood the kids ran, and ran, ate lots of sweet gooey marshmellows and generally burnt off alot of their excess energy, it's usually a sure fire recipe to get them to sleep that night. Seamus had one of his mates for a sleep over the night before so he came along too.

Spread thinner than a scrapping of vegemite.

Or "vegemite how you can hardly see it" as I used to call it when I was little, meaning I only wanted a little bit on my toast. That describes my life this week. Today for example, up, shower and make lunches for the four boys, dishes and all the other ugly little morning chores that need to be done before I take the boys to school. After the drop off I must admit I had the leisure of a quick stroll through the nature park with the dog before the rush to work. Worked to 3.15, busy there all day, then had to get Joseph to the physio by 3.30, Seamus to a birthday party at 4, pick up one of the boys footy gear they had left behind and drop it off to the other side of town to training, pick the boys up after training at the same time I was meant to pick up the youngest from the party. Then race home with half an hour to cook dinner before taking the eldest back over to the other side of town for guitar lessons, back home again for half an hour then back again to pick him up, do the dinner dishes, make the boys supper because dinner was early and rushed and they are starving as always, clean up after that answer the phone a few times and then finally it's my time. So here I am sitting at the laptop having a little bit of a whinge about my day, when really it doesn't bother me that much, writing it down has made me 'get over it' really quickly all ready to do it again tomorrow. As a result of this busy week/life I have not had the chance to do much of the camera playing thing, just a couple of quick shots of some flowers I was given the other day, gorgeous and a reminder that spring is around the corner although nothing spectacular in the photography department.
I just reread this, my what a moaner, lol, but I am going to leave it here unedited so one day when my boys have all left home and I, sad and lonely with nothing to do(yeh as if) can look back fondly with the distance of time at how full and rich my life was(insert a chuckle here)

Funky friday challenge

This weeks challenge was to use the Miksang form of photography. Here is the link to explain it's style. Just hope my interpretation is alright. I will hopefully have time over the next few days to take some more shots in this style as I find it very interesting and it really makes you think about structure etc when composing you photographs, but with time being a little pressed at the moment the garden shots will have to do.

More of the light house and another pelican

Jackson found himself a comfy spot

The ferry that runs across the closest area between lakes Alexandria and Albert

Some more from the Coorongs

Seagulls on the Narrung jetty Shot this out of the car window as we went past, couldn't resist the beautiful old homestead.
It is part of the property Polltaloch, just past the point where lake albert and Lake Alexandria meet.

I overloaded a bit on this old light house and building but it was so atmospheric, I think I took around a dozen different shots of it from different angles.

Back from a few days at the Coorongs, pelican overload.

Arrived home with the batteries recharged after a lovely four day weekend at the Coorongs(Think Storm boy). It was a lovely wind down during the holidays and it was magnificent to wake to the roar of the ocean in the morning again. We stayed with friends who own a holiday house 10 km out of Meningie right across the road from the water, ate too much, drank too much and probably talked too much too, the perfect getaway, we had no phone connection and didn't even worry about checking the time, delightful.

Funky photo Friday challenge-collections

My rubber fetish I have several angels around the house, not quite a collection but getting close.
Some of these are Christmas decorations that I just can't bear to put away.
These bottles range from small to tiny. They have housed products from dental floss to perfume and even an old codral cold medicine bottle

I love my MM paints
Rows of pretty ribbons, who can resist?

I don't have collections as much as gathering of things. My gathering of little bottles that sit on a shelf in my scrap room, and the angels that sit and hang in various spots around my lounge and of course there are not many scrapbookers out there that do not have a stash of products, more than they will probably ever use if they are any thing like me.

Sunshine in winter

Boys can't resist wriggly little creatures The footy had a bit of a break while the boys helped in the garden

Joseph giving the hammock a good work out
I love assylum, it's such a hardy little plant and can take root anywhere and the smell is divine, like wild honey
The pets really enjoyed the break in the cold weather

There is something special about a sunny day in winter that refreshes the spirit. Being the first day of school holidays and my day off helped as well with no busy schedule to follow.
